Individual Coaching from Sophie

"I am an all round trained musician, singer and songwriter. As a vocal coach, I specialise in teaching voice technique and repertoire to pop and musical theatre performers.

 

I studied music though the traditional qualifications and at school studying voice, piano and orchestral instruments. I have a degree in Music from Leeds University and studied contemporary and jazz voice technique with Sarah Gilbertson (Syd Lawrence Orchestra) at Leeds Jazz College. I play piano to a high standard and accompany singers well.

 

I began teaching voice in 1999 and have taught for many colleges and schools and vocal coached and MD'ed for productions both amateur and professional. I have taught for many years for Italia Conti and The Institute of Contemporary Music, designing and writing singing and song writing courses and selecting suitable repertoire. I have been doing private voice coaching for over 10 years.

 

Between 1999 and 2005 I worked for a BBC Live Music dept and then 2 major record labels; Sony UK and S Records (Simon Cowel's label), which has given me a high level of understanding of the standard and professionalism required to succeed in music and related businesses.

 

I now write songs and teach song writing and voice. I specialise in Pop and Contemporary Music and also Musical Theatre. I sang in shows for many years and also in various groups and bands. I have an extensive knowledge of repertoire and stay abreast of new material to guide my clients to build a suitable repertoire for their individual voice and professional requirements. I provide all the songs, sheet music, exercises and backing tracks and design a programme of practice to work for each voice.

 

I have worked with many signed artists as well as actors and dancers and am skilled at helping my clients build confidence and understand about all areas of singing. I offer a personal, supportive and dedicated service to all my clients and am proud to have seen many of them realise their dreams either by getting signed to a major record deal, taken on by a top agent or winning roles in west end shows "
